To help raise awareness of the early detection of prostate cancer, the Group, with the support of the National Capital Authority and the ACT Government, helped turn Canberra blue as part of a PCFA national awareness campaign for Prostate Cancer Awareness Month this September. Several landmark buildings in Canberra were lit up blue, and members of the support group gathered on the steps of Old Parliament for a photo opportunity to support this awareness initiative.
Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia. Each year, around 29,000 Australian men are diagnosed with prostate cancer. It’s estimated that 1 in 5 men will be diagnosed in their lifetime, with over 79 new cases every single day.
The Group calls on the Canberra community to start a life-saving conversation this September.
